With the sucess of the first Mega Man game, Capcom decided to make a sequelto the original game which was truly excellant. Unlike the first Mega Mangame this time around Dr.Wily makes his own evil robots, and has his Skullcastle hideout. But unlike the original in which you had to defeat 6 robots, you must defeat 8 robots which like the others of the pervious game have aname and use a specific weapon related to their name. When you defeat them, you get their weapon. Each robot leader is vulnerable to one of the robotleader's weapons (for instance, Air man is vulnerable to Wood Man's leafshield). Then you must defeat Dr.Wily, but like the original, you mustdefeat his crazy mechanisms which are also vulerable to a certain weapon ofone of the robot leaders, defeat the robot leaders again (just like in MegaMan), and defeat Dr. Wily himself again. Basically it's the same gameconcept with some added features. But it's still a great game to play. Youcan never get enough of the blue bomber.
User: plok253After being defeated by Mega Man and thrown into prison, Dr. Wily seeksrevenge. He busts out of jail, and creates 8 robots of his own.Bubbleman,an aquatic robot; Airman, master of wind; Quickman, robot who can run withgreat speed and has speedy boomerangs as a weapon; Heat Man, another robotof fire that has the shape of a cigarette lighter; Woodman, who can beshielded by the forces of nature; Metalman, a master of sprockets andmachinery; Flashman, a robot who can freeze objects in place and attack;andCrashman, a robot with drill-shaped missiles. The new features this gameprovides are:
Password: you are now able to record your progress and don't have to startall over everytime
Energy Tanks: they refill your energy when needed
Item (1,2,3:) inventions by Dr. Light that you are given after beatingHeatman, Airman, and Flashman. They allow you to reach new areas, and arenecessary at some parts of Dr. Wily's castle
Challenge Level: You can set the challenge as either normal or difficultwhen you turn on the game
I still prefer the original over this one, but Mega Man 2 is an ultimateclassic, and doesn't disappoint in any way. If you are only going to get3Mega Man games out of the whole series, get the first 2 as well as MegaManX for the Super Nintendo.
I commenting Mega Man 2 after beating it a lot of years since I beat itthe first time. Thanks to Console Emulation I am living again theexperience of playing gems like this baby. I am surprised to see howamazingly addictive this games are still to this day.
Mega Man 2 is not only a sequel made to cash-out the success of thefirst Mega Man is a step forward in many aspects. More user friendlythan Mega 1, this game has a system of password-saving that lets thegamer save his progress without having to play the game in its entiretyevery time. Also Mega Man 2 is not as difficult as the first onebecause the worlds of Dr. Willy's creations are easy to learn andmemorize. In all I believe some people may be frustrated because thereare many things and processes to memorize (jump that, don't jump that;use that weapon with that enemy, learn the AI patron of that otherone)and also some good reflexes are needed of course. But that's theentertaining side of this thing after all.
Almost twenty years later Mega Man 2 with simple sprite-animation cangive me more hours of enjoyment than many modern hits with incrediblyastounding 3D Animation. But not always the better-looking game is thebest game. I can't rate it with any other number than ten. Capcomscores another victory with this one (I lose the count of how manygreat games they have released throughout the years). Without a doubtmy favorite from the Mega Man series for the NES system.
The Mega Man series is one of the most exciting action video games! Thecharacters, the action, and the sure thrill of excitement makes thisgame a fun non-stop playing time! Below is a brief look how I think thegame is!
Game Play: The game play is very good. There is really basic controlshere and is easy to perform. Novice gamers should have a good timehere!
Graphics: The graphics are wonderful especially for the NintendoSystem! The backgrounds are really beautiful!
Difficulty: The game is easy but as it goes on you find out that itwill become more difficult!
Music: The music is great! Just fantastic catchy tunes through out thegame! In My opinion its some of the best music ever in a video game!
Sound: The sound is great. Nuff said!
Overall: I have always loved Mega Man 2! If you like shooting andfighting action adventure games then I strongly recommend you play thisgame!

I had never heard of the first but when I saw preview images of Mega Man 2Ijust had to check it out. If side-scrolling action and cartoony graphicsare your bag, you've got to play it. The villains seem appropriatelycheesyyet, I never thought of this game as too childish to enjoy. The playcontrol is slightly better than in the original Mega Man and thelandscapesmore vivid.
The story goes - in the first Mega Man, Dr. Light and Dr. Wily created 7robots together to serve humanity. Dr. Wily stole 6 and reprogrammed themto help him take over the world, leaving only Dr. Light and Mega Man tosavethe day. This time out, Dr. Wily has returned with 8 new robots of hisowncreation and a gigantic fortress that puts the first game toshame.
After the success of Mega Man 2 the franchise took off spawning Mega Man3-6on the NES, Mega Man 7 and the spin-off series Mega Man X 1-3 on the SuperNES, Mega Man X4 and Mega Man 8 on the Playstation, and even Mega Man 1-5onthe GameBoy. And fun was had by all.
Mega Man 2 for the NES is one of the best 8-bit games ever released! When I was ten (1990) I bought the first Mega Man game there ever was. This game was very addictive and made me an instant Mega Man fan. Before 1990 had ended I read a preview of MM2. I couldn't believe myeyes! A sequel was being made of my favorite game! As soon as it wasreleased (early 1991) I bought a copy of it, and played it. I neverstopped playing it. MM2 boasts some brilliant music! Most tunes areworld famous now, and every Mega Man fan can hum these tunes.Especially Dr. Wily's Castle tune, which seems to be the best Mega Mantune ever! The graphics MM2 shows are of extreme high quality. It putsa lot of 16-bit games and even some 32-bit and 64-bit games to shame! The graphics are very clear and the use of colours in the background isvery detailed and a pleasure to look at.
In total there are eight levels to conquer before you can fight themaster mind Dr. Wily. In the first Mega Man game Dr. Wily reprogrammedsix of his peaceful robots to conquer the world. In total seven weremade, but the protagonist of both games, Mega Man managed to escape theclutches of the evil Wily. It is now Mega Man's duty to defeat Wily fora second time and destroy his new eight robotic minions. Each robot hasits own stage and Mega Man has to beat go through the entire stage tobattle a robot master. Once a robot master is defeated Mega Man can usethe power of its defeated opponent to battle other robots.
Although it sounds all rather easy, it's not. Try to pass Heatman'sschasm of fire or pass Quickman's deadly laser beams! This game willget you hooked instantly. Not only by its outstanding graphical andmusical quality, but by its playability as well! Controlling Mega Manis a piece of cake, within no time you can make him run, jump andshoot! All in all a must have for every NES owner, but I guess everyNES owner already has this game in his collection!
I know this is a controversial comment. But I don't really care. Nowyouall know how I feel about this monumental platformer, one that REALLY setthe Mega Man saga in motion. Game Informer magazine rated it as the 32ndbest game ever.
It's no surprise, really. Everlasting nostalgia, a stellar music score, incredible action and sound.
Long live the 8-bit dream of Mega Man. Not the mediocre Super NintendoandPSX versions (they are all far too hard and just don't do the series anygood).
