    Very entertaining

I actually own a mix of over 40 old and new martial arts movies. I havealso seen recent productions like City of Violence(Korea)and KillZone(china)and despite my great exposure to the genre this movie'sboldness in comedy, creative and action makes it stand out as the mostfully entertaining action movie in a few years. I have seen ong bak,the protector, and born to fight all form the same director and enjoyedall three very much. This movie fits right in; yet still stands outbecause of the originality, at least in the west, of its story. Themain actor was very good and convincing in his fighting. I think thedirector is the among the best fight action choreographers andphotographers in the movie industry second only to matrix legend yuenwoo ping and tied with Corey Yuen.

failed effort at Ong Bak with CGI

Talented stuntman/fighter Dan Chupong (Born To Fight) is given littleto work with in this repetitive, overlong mess from Thailand. Clearlyhoping to bask in the financial glory of Ong Bak and The Protector (akaTom Yum Goong), this film seems rushed and it shows. The plot isterrible and the acting is substandard (even for a Thai film). Theaction scenes are poorly conceived and filmed. Slow motion is used forshots that don't deserve it and money shots almost always feature acutaway revealing the choreographer's complete inability to make theaction scenes work. If they get any credit, it's that they don't stoopeven lower and use the horrible "shaky, camera on a string" crap tofurther cover the shortcomings! The character's are cardboard and theset's look like, well, sets! The special effects are cheap (as in mostmodern Thai films).
Just a reminder to those Thai filmmakers who wish to emulate Ong Bak-
    1. Get talented martial artists & stuntmen
    2. Concentrate on the quality of the fight scenes and don't give in toCGI and cutaways.
    3. Keep the plot simple (the best martial arts films usually haveminimal plot)
If you are going to ask those talented stuntmen to risk injury ordeath, at least try to make a film worth them getting injured for!

    Bad...Really Bad....

I've seen hundreds, possibly thousands of movies. I sat through theabomination that was Tomb Raider 2. I watched the blindness producingTorque all the way through. But this.....this was just unwatchable.
I love action/martial arts movies...who doesn't? But this is justawful. First it starts off with some exciting action, then degradesinto a truly spectacular piece of crap, with a giant, a wizard, and amonkey man.
    Yes, I'm being serious.
Once we met the wizard, I turned it off. No action in the world wasgood enough to make me keep watching.
This movie had some truly awful acting, even for Thai movies this wasbad. The action? boring, with one or 2 memorable scenes which I alreadysaw on the trailer. The hero? only uses his knees. watching him kickthe crap out of people the same exact way for 20 minutes getsboring...fast.
Special effects? My god, they were bad...i mean we had the hero ridinga rocket like a surfboard....Christ almighty can you believe thatcrap?! I feel stupider just having watched this movie, I urge you tosave some brain cells and skip it. Watch Ong Bak, watch Tom Yum Goong, heck watch em twice, just don't watch this movie.

    An entertaining action movie

"Khon fai bin" can be described as an action packed movie like "Born toFight" mixed with fantasy elements! The main character uses Muay Thaiand rockets as his main weapons! The main villain uses magic likeprotection spells and some form of telekinesis! The action scenes arevery enjoyable and nicely choreographed! Although it is obvious thatthe main character is more of a stuntman than a martial artist! In thataspect it fails to reach the level of "Ong-Bak" or "Tom yum goong"! Ithink it was a brilliant move to place the movie in a 1890's setting! It gives a different perspective on Thailand! The background music istraditional and original! The humor can be a bit much! After havingseen several Thai movies I have learned that this sort of humor istypical! If you give it a chance you will get used to this type ofhumor! Note: From the copy I watched the subtitles were very badlytranslated! But still it wasn't difficult to follow the story! "Khonfai bin" is entertaining! What more do you want!

This is a comic book story and a relatively fun one but it's very comic book.

Tony Jaa- love this guy- he has done for Muay Thai what Bruce lee didfor kung fu and he's an awesome martial arts talent. For that reasonalone you should see this movie- just be prepared for a LOT ofSILLINESS with bottle rockets the size of courier tubes and completeignorance of gravity and physics and editing in some of the stunts.
This is a great movie for teens into martial arts movies since it has alight handling of adult situations that if I were directing, wouldprobably result in this movie being banned in 18 countries. :-)
I think the roughest scene is when one guy takes a bite out of anotherguy and even that is handled pretty lightly.
All that cartoonish mockery of a real film experience aside- this a funlittle movie about a dude that has stupid bottle rockets and killerMuay Thai skill and a score to settle with a Cattle thief in preindustrial revulsion (some call it revolution) Thailand.
He pairs up with some unlikely allies that started off as dire enemiesto fight the ghost of a wizard who is a ghost from his past- usingmagical amulets to trap demons etc...
I gave this movie an extra two points for being one of the only moviesI know of to depict the Thai tradition of "finding your animal spirit"which is a ritual celebrated at Wai Kru festival where tattoos are madeof a psychedelic ink that then creates a trance where the recipients"become" the animal the tattoo depicts - this is covered with twocharacters having tiger and monkey spirits respectively and a wizardactivating their tattoos. Of course this is a Hollywood 7 secondtreatment of an all day ritual but it was still a fun nod to Thaihistory.
Thai are a very proud people and this shows in their film making- theymake a few nods to American movie making but the script continuallyresounds with a centrism on the Thai, probably because the story is inThailand :-). This is directed by one of the camera men for Tom yumgoong.
The movie also mocks kung fu at the end which is a long held traditionapparently- to make fun of the weaker kung fu compared to the monstrousbrutality of Muay Thai and Krabi Krabong.

    Buffaloes, cannibals and... rockets?

Really now folks... this movie isn't nearly as bad as the low ratingsuggests. It's got it all: evil warlocks, would-be-rapists with cleftpalates, herds of water buffaloes, menstrual blood, rocket-ridin' Thaifighters, cannibalism, and tons of knee-meets face action.
While the action is a bit contrived and gets slightly old after awhile, the sheer bizarreness of the plot and the few (unexpected)twists kept us going. It does pay off in the end.
So yes, I was entertained, and this'll go on my shelf of off the wallThai films. It's no Ong Bak or even Born to Fight, but it's certainlydifferent. Rocket riding magical fighters... I mean, you can't makesome of this stuff up! Worth a watch and a laugh at the ridiculousnessof it all. A good 2am action film to watch with your buddies.

    A Nutshell Review: Dynamite Warrior

Dan Chupong probably got the role of his career so far when he got castas the mysterious masked Crow Ghost in Ong Bak 2, and kicked Tony Jaa'srear in the film. It's a pity that he still doesn't get muchrecognition on his own accord given what's essentially his marqueefilms such as Born to Fight (which I had watched some time back on thebig screen, and enjoyed), and this one titled Dynamite Warrior.
Which is one heck of a ride as well, as far as an action movie isconcerned. Chupong plays the titular character, aptly named because ofhis arsenal containing rockets of all shapes and sizes, which can beused as an offensive weapon such as projectiles with an explosive tip,or defensively to provide a quick boost in a modified escape vehiclefor the late 19th century. Alternatively, some are large enough for himto ride on as well. Yes, you read me right, Chupong's Jone Bang Fai isthe quintessential explosives man, complete with Muay Thai elbow andknee moves to mop up and cripple opponents lucky enough to survive hisshock- and-awe missile barrage.
But of course you know the story can't be all too serious, since it's afusion of science and mythical elements, with evil wizards and spellsbeing part of the equation on the villainous end, which our hero has todo combat with. In his quest to search for the killer of his parents,Jone Bang Fai conducts raids on buffalo traders, and soon come upagainst Lord Waeng (Leo Putt), an evil aristocrat with a cleft lip, whose invention the Tractor gets no sales because the Thai farmers arestill used to their buffaloes. So Waeng hatches a plan to eliminate thetraditional competition, and this sets him on a collision course withJone.
Part of the fun here is the sword and sorcery type of storyline andcharacters, especially with Nai Hoi Sing (Samart Thipthamai) who provesto be quite the combatant since he's magical tattoo gives himsuperpowers and the ability to discharge blows from a distance, makinghim quite untouchable. He also has the ability to ignite his followersBak Paen (Wichai Promchan) and Bak Kaan (Ampol Rattanawong) into usingfighting monkey and tiger moves, which adds to the fun factor somewhat,as they go up against the Black Wizard (Panna Rittikrai) who has asecret weapon through the use of a virgin's menstrual blood (Yes, youread this right too!), and backed by Lord Waeng and his tough guyhenchman with a voracious appetite, played by Somdej Keawlue.
The story contains its usual twists and turns and provides for somenice, though expected, development of the plot, and the only time whenit sagged, was when it decided to focus on the romantic aspects betweenJone and the Black Wizard's daughter Sao (Kanyapak Suworakood), in ashy guy meets outcast girl routine, which took quite a while becausewell, we the audience accompanies Jone in waiting for her nextmenstrual cycle. But everything was worth the wait as it was aprecursor to one of the largest fight sequences to take place in a copstation, before the finale all out assault on the baddies lair.
Chupong dishes out plenty of of punishment as Jone Bang Fai, and ifyou're a fan of Tony Jaa, I don't see why you won't take to Dan Chupongand his brand of martial arts. The supporting cast, especially that ofSamart Thipthamai also makes many of the fight scenes in the filmworthwhile, and sequence after sequence just builds on what theprevious had accomplished, making it a more than satisfying finalebattle between good and evil, with plenty of bone crunching action tosatisfy action fans anywhere. It's not a perfect film, but it containsmany elements that make this a fun movie to sit through beingentertaining at its core. Dan Chupong really should have made a biggerimpact, and that remains to be seen with bated breath.

    Dynamite...

Dan Chupong, the star of DYNAMITE WARRIOR, would give even Tony Jaa arun for his money (and a film featuring the two of them together wouldno doubt rival Bruce Lee's showdown with Chuck Norris in WAY OF THEDRAGON for one-on-one action). Chupong, as the rocket-riding hero, hasoutstanding direction by Chalerm Wongpim to thank for making him lookso good. Leo Putt as Lord Wang brings some much-appreciated comicrelief to what in lesser hands could've been an overly-grim slug festof the "mechanical martial arts" variety (wherein the standard katasare performed by actors whose expressions never change). DYNAMITEWARRIOR is a superlative blend of super-heroic feats, Thai martial artstechniques, and magic. There's a schizo sorcerer, a monstrous,man-eating henchman, jumping monkey and leaping tiger underlings, spectacular stunts that need to be seen to be believed (Jackie Chanwould be impressed) and rocket-riding. This one more than lives up tothe promise of the trailer. A ten-plus. We may very well be seeing anew Golden Age of Action Films.

    Rocket.....Yeah!

This is one weird movie. I guess the best way to describe this would besort of a Thai version of Robin Hood in which the hero (Dan Chupong)uses rockets instead of arrows. And boy does this guy have somerockets! He has a ton of little rockets that he shoots at the bad guysand then there's the bad boy that he can ride like a surfboard! I'mdefinitely going to Thailand for my fireworks this year. And apparentlyhe has flint in his fingertips to light these rockets. That's probablygood because you really don't want to be wasting time fumbling aroundwith matches when you are single handedly taking out a large group ofcattle rustlers. This is one really weird movie that also features aman who can change from a goofy guy with hair that resembles a tidalwave to an older warrior guy who can fight with the best of them. Thereis also a wizard, at least I think that's what he was supposed to be, atractor, talk of menstrual blood, and guys who seem to be possessed byspirits of animals that run like monkeys and can jump about fifty feet.Did I mention the hero rides a rocket? As for the fight scenes, sincethis is really what it's all about, they are mostly average. DanChupong is good, check out the much better "Born To Fight", but hedoesn't have very many moves. He can do some Tony Jaa-like kicks andflying knees but they don't have quite the same ring to them as Jaa's.And the director of this movie really loves to show guys getting hitand then spinning in the air about ten times before hitting the ground. That's all good once in awhile but it gets old after about the fifthtime. There is a couple of good stunts in the movie as well but unlikeOng Bak, this movie uses CGI and wirework for a lot of stunts. If youthink a guy riding a big rocket would look ridiculous, you areabsolutely right. And judging by some of the extras I watched, this wasapparently supposed to be a comedy as well as an action movie. You willdefinitely laugh but not at the intended humor which doesn't translatewell to the American audience. So in conclusion, the fight scenes werenothing special and this was a very weird movie.

    Definitely worth watching

Honestly now...I read the comments before i watched this feature film, and I must say that I am glad I paid little to no interest in some ofthe posts i saw prior to my actual viewing. One must wonder what someof the so called "critics" use as the fundamentals for judging whenthey view different genres of movies.I mean come on now...it's aMARTIAL ARTS MOVIE...what we want to see is martial arts action...ifyou want a great plot then go and watch a psychological thriller or adrama. However, this is not to say that the plot of the feature filmwas at all empty, as I would say that the plot was far more fulfillingthat our glamorized "Onk Bak". The action in this feature wasdefinitely entertaining, and the special power aspect gave rising tothat of "Kung fu Hustle" while still retaining a realistic point ofview.
To summarize it all I would say that any martial arts fan or actionlover will definitely agree that "Dynamite Warrior" surpasses theexpectations beyond that of satisfactory. I rate it a solid 7/10 afterall was considered, as it managed to give me a feeling of euphoriaafter my viewing....something which rarely happens. Do enjoy.

    Flying Knees Galore

Watch this movie without expecting Ong-Bak or Tom Yum Goong and youmight like it.
The story is really basic but I guess I need to explain it a bit asthere are no subtitles on the Thai DVD. French bring Tractor toThailand in order to use it in agriculture but Thais refuse to use itover their cattle's. So the bad guy of the movie (some kind of rich manI suppose) hires some bandits in order to steal cattle's of thisfarmers.
And our hero is some kind of Muay Thai Robin Hood (steals from the richand gives it to poor) in cowboy outfit trying to stop all these illbehavior.
There are some really spectacular Muay Thai moves thrown in this movieand I believe martial arts movie fans which are accustomed to no story- no acting but good action will like it
