I had the pleasure of seeing this at it's premiere. And I feelcompelled to comment on the quality of this excellent effort from MrWard and his merry crew. The story may not be the most original, but Ifeel that the execution was flawless, especially considering the budgetlimitations. The quality of the cast also helps lift the film from thegaggle of other low budget films available. Particularly of note was(Dr)Nick Rendell's excellent portrayal of the morally conflicted maincharacter Mitchell - I look forward to seeing more of his work! Thespecial effects used in the film also deserve applause (I think theymay well have won an award), Particularly in the film's centrepiecescene (I won't spoil it for you). Just be warned - it is not for thefeint of heart!! All in all, if you like a good old fashioned gangsterfilm laced with lashings of both violence and gore then look no furtherthan this superb effort. 10 out of 10. A word to the director - Howabout a follow up to the also excellent Sudden Fury? Please Mr Ward,Please!!
User: IndyrodDarren Ward directed this extremely violent gangster bloodfest, and hecertainly delivers the goods. The story is about Mitchell (NickRendell), a money collector dispatched by a gangster boss to find somemissing money. Movie begins with a really really hot sex scene, betweenMitchell and his Wife, and then moves 24 months ahead with him lyingdead on a morgue slab, with a huge hole in his stomach. The story istold by the dead man and recounts what happened to cause his gruesomedeath. The gangster boss believes he was robbed and when Mitchell goesto the guy they think did it, he finds the money and cuts the guysthroat open, with lots of blood spray. Mitchell keeps the money, andthen is called upon by an even meaner gangster boss to find his 100K,which Mitchell now has. This starts a rampage of some of the mostextremely violent graphic bloody kill scenes you are likely to see inany movie. Ward really sets forth to create a splatterfest of thehighest order. He succeeds with some great shootouts and one particulartorture scene of a guy hanging by his feet from the ceiling. Afterbeating the guy with clubs, for stealing money from the boss, whatfollows knocked me out of my chair. I've seen it all, believe me, butwhat they do to this guy made me flinch and is not easily forgotten, especially by men. Extremely bloody, gory, and Ward makes sure you seeit all in nice bright bloody color. Every step of the way Mitchelltakes with his psychopath partner leads to more kills, and moregraphically detailed blood and guts. After the crime boss finds out itwas Mitchell himself that stole his money, everybody goes after him.Big time shootouts, more kills, and I thought I was in heaven. There isNO WAY this cut Mr. Ward sent me will ever see the light of day in anAmerican theater. But he intends on releasing it uncut and unrated, solucky for everybody that likes this genre, you'll get to see what I sawin the screener. This is a very very brutal movie, but top notch actingby all involved, and great photography, make this a must-see for youfans of excessive violent movies. I didn't notice any CGI, just plainold very well staged practical makeup effects make this one a joy. There's a little Guy Ritchie, some Tarantino (ala Reservoir Dogs), butmostly Darren Ward (Sudden Fury) that creates a very memorable graphicgangster thriller. This movie is NOT to be missed, it scores on alllevels. I loved it, and will buy it for sure, just to hear Mr. Wardscommentary.

This is one of the worst films ever made. There are a lot of films onthe IMDb that have suffered that accusation but in this case it couldactually could be true.
The first sign that this is a cut and paste oater made with no care isthe casting. Various rent-a-thug types play various rent-a-thugs...badly.
These people always appear doing the same thing in zero budget Britishtrash. They're not actors and they should stop pretending they are.
There is no plot, no character and the dialogue is embarrassing. Realactors couldn't say it convincingly let alone the talentless no-hopershere.
Despite opening with a sex scene and a couple of very violent andgraphic torture scenes this is a very boring film. There are no goodpoints.
This film starts right off the bat with a hot sex scene, I feared thatit might be the high point of the film. I just didn't realize how lowit would go and quickly it would get there. What didn't go quickly wasthe horrifically graphic castration by garden shears scene thatfollowed, which seemed to drag for some 7-10 minutes (I'm not watchingit again just to time it). I watch a lot of films, this offended likefew others ever have. These guys were obviously proud of the prosthetic(I hope) scrotum and testicles, which got thrown around and a featuredin several close up shots. I feel scarred for life by that interminablescene. The rest of the movie? Where it wasn't predictable, it turned onpreposterous premises... In the end the whole movie was that savage andpointless (in terms of story development) celebration of emasculation. Why?
User: simonpcpearsonThere is nothing good to say about this movie. It's another pointless, pitiful and deeply unpleasant movie by Darren Ward. He has been makingthis type of thing for years and he hasn't improved since the trulyawful Sudden Fury many years ago.
Its very very cheap. Production values are poor. The lighting is attimes to dark to see what is going on and the sound makes it impossibleto hear what is being said. However given the terrible level of actingand writing and directing involved this is probably not much of a loss.
There are some positive reviews here and on other sites which can onlybe by people connected to the movie as no-one could possibly find thisto be a 10/10 movie.
Avoid.
Mitchell (Nick Rendell) is a hard man debt collector who thinks he'shit it big time when he stumbles across ?100,000 while collecting adebt from addled drug dealer Hopper (Italian horror legend GiovanniLombardo Radice)
However, it turns out that the money belongs to his new boss, gangsterCurtis Boswell (victor D Thorn) who promptly sends Mitchell to find hisloot. So begins a nightmare for Mitchell, who must stay one step aheadof his crime colleagues if he wants to stay alive...
A Day Of Violence is nothing special trash, and I've no problem withtrash per se- as long as it's entertaining, but unfortunately, itisn't. Shot on video, it has unconvincing performances from VictorThorn as the rather well spoken crime boss, as well as clich?d hard menin black suits spouting pretty woeful dialogue. It has one or two nicegore scenes and director Darren Ward's heart is in the right place, asthe film is nicely exploitative. It just isn't very good, and you won'treally care what happens to the characters anyway.
A Highly disappointing and mediocre film, it's probably best watcheddrunk, or else not watched at all, because nobody's missing anythinghere at all.
